I'm free! (well, sort of)

Hello there!! Well, I am really happy. Now we are officially on vacations!! So I can do everything I wanted! Well, almost everything. I got really happy now that  I can take my free time (which is a lot more) for making the blog posts. But today my mom told me that I won't be able to go out by myself until I am 18 years old... I don't really know what she is afraid of, there are kids of 11 years running in the street by themselves, I am turning 15 the next year, but well. She is my mother, she is the one who makes the decisions. I just hope she is doing the correct thing :) (Even if I die for going out with my friends) S: Anyways! I wanted to share with you some little doodles I made. I found this notebook in my school, it was almost in the trash, so I just saved it! But I just realized it is a pretty good one, I mean, the paper is sort of cardboard (perfect for watercolors!) and each page is separated by a protector paper. I was really lucky :3 hope you like 'em!

Happy Friday! xoxo, Monica

DIY cassette necklace

Hello there! Well, today I want to show you how to make your very own cassette necklace. You just need a cassette, some scissors, and glue. Cut plastic tape inside and pull it out, then just paste both ends to the cassette. It is pretty simple, and easy to make. By the way you are recycling! Love, Monica

DIY water bokeh'

The bokeh' effect is a really special one, you normally need to use some lights and focus an object that is near to you, so that the lights get out of focus and appear on the photo as small circles! Today I learned by accident another way of getting this effect.
It was raining and my mom and I were trapped in the traffic, so I started taking photos, and I realized that by using the flash all the little drops looked like circles... just like the lights with bokeh! So I got really exited and started taking more of photos. You can try it to, even if it is not raining! Just find a transparent surface (almost anything works)  add some drops of water to it and place it between your camera and the item you want to photograph, remember to focus the object before and turn ON the flash. It is pretty simple, and the results are lovely. Have a lovely day! Love, Monica & Remi.

My new desk...

Well, the day before yesterday I found a black permanent marker, and guess what? It was a new one! So I got a little excited about it and started by writing a part of the song called "yellow" from Coldplay it was a small phrase.. "Look at the stars, look how they shine for you" and then I just started writing some parts of the lyrics from my favorite songs, and after about one hour my desk ended like this..
Stay lovely! xoxo.

Custom shirts!

Hello there! It's me! haha finally..! Well, I just finished the last exams of the 5th bimester. It was kinda tough, but anyways I survived. Today I want to show you a simple way I discovered to stamp shirts! You just need a design, a transparent piece of paper (any kind works) I used acetate, a marker, a shirt, and fabric or acrylic paint!

First copy your design on the transparent paper, turn it all around (as a mirror) and then start filling the design with the paint, after that just place your design over your shirt and start pushing the design's paint on your shirt, after covering all the design take the piece of paper out and let it dry for about 30 minutes. And thats it! It is really simple, and as it is not totally perfect you will always get different results! Have a lovely day! xo. Monica

Cartoon yourself :)

Hello again! Well, I've always wanted to know how it would be if we all looked like  cartoons! So I tried, and experimented a bit with this program I love called Pixelmator, and I ended up with this drawing. It is really easy to do, may be not simple, but easy :) You just need a picture to begin with and then just make it a cartoon.

1. First open your image on Pixelmator, 2. Add another layer over the original picture, 3. Mark the face over the picture using the new layer, 4. Add a white square between the layer and the original image to add a background to your cartoon, 5. Start adding color to your cartoon (don't worry a lot about the exact colors, you can see I got a bit excited with the hair's color!) 6. Add a background! Choose any kind of color you like, or you can even erase some parts of the white square to let the original's picture background appear, 7. Add some other details like shadows or phrases, and you are done! :) Hope you liked it! xo. Monica

My perfect studio...

Hello!! Well, I know.... I haven't been posting as much as I would like to... exams...! But well, I have to admit I like school. Since a long time ago I've dreamed of a studio where I could create, get inspired, or even scape from the reality. These are just some drawings I did, but every idea starts with pencil and paper!
I have dreamed of this for a long time.. hopefully I can get a studio like this one someday! (:
Happy weekend! xo.

5 tips for new Etsy sellers

Hi there!
I hope you all survived to the christmas dinner chaos! (hopefully I did)

Today I wanted to talk to you about something I know you love... HANDMADE.
And if we are talking about handmade we should talk about "the best place to buy all things vintage handmade and supplies" ETSY.
Well, when it comes about Etsy you must know that buying and finding some awesome things is great! But... what about if you want to sell some of your work? Well... time ago I started an Etsy shop and I hope I knew some of these tips I am going to share with you.

1. Take great pictures
This is a basic thing you can do. And probably one of the most important! Imagine you see something... but it is not clear or the light isn't enough. You won't have a great idea of how the item of the picture looks in real life. Sharp and good lighten pictures are the perfect ones for adding to your listings. *you can read a bit more about photography here and here*

2. Make good descriptions
I have to admit I am still working on making better descriptions for my listings. But some things you have to keep in mind is to fully describe what you are selling.
Make to yourself these questions:

Which size is it?
Do I have it in other colors?
How much does it weights?
Which materials is it made of?

After doing this you can have a better description that will answer possible customer's questions.

3. Taging
At the beginning this might seem not very important. But... it is. This tags will help customers reach your listings! For choosing my tags I first think, what would I write on the search box for reechoing this item?
After that you can choose easily the perfect tags for your items.

4. Shop and brand style
This is something you have to keep in mind if you want customers to remember your shop. This can be developed by the backgrounds of the pictures or the way you present them. These are some lovely shops that have a great style.

5. Be punctual and do what you say
Well, if you are going to sell anything you would need to write carefully your policies and fulfill all what you say. Also try to send as fast as possible your items. This will make buyers happy, and leave you a positive feedback. A good idea for that is to send the receipt and a small letter thanking the purchase and asking them for leaving a feedback. It could be something like this... "Did you liked our service? Let us know! You can leave feedback on daisy smoothie.etsy.com"

I hope this works for you! (:
Love,
Monica
