Canada! #1

Well, hi there again! I am really exited for the things I am going to share with you today. I just arrived from a small trip to Canada I had to make for school. It was a great experience, I really liked so many things and learned lots of new stuff about the country and its people. To begin with, I stayed in a Home-stay in Montreal. I had never traveled alone before, so it was something completely new to me.   I got to be with a really nice couple, who had 4 grown up "kids" and a little grand daughter, it was really interesting since the mom was Filipina and the father was from Holland. She cooked the best rice in the world (after my mother's rice of course) It was an awesome experience, and I got to see so many beautiful places and I really want to come back later with all my family. Here are some pictures of the trip!

This certainly was my favourite part of the trip. The Niagara Falls, all my life I had wanted to go and visit Canada just to be near this gigantic waterfalls that everyone talks about. And then suddenly I was there, (they took us there the first week) so it was a lot to process once we were there. We got to ride the small boat that gets you near the falls! I knew that, so I was all ready when the tourist guide told us: leave all your stuff, we are getting wet! (I brought my sandals and everything, some guys were laughing at it, but I knew what I was doing.) I really did not take so many pictures because I was just there, amazed by this beautiful place right in front of me. Besides being soaked in water I realised that it was simply amazing, to have a place like this in our planet Earth, and just thought about how we should cherish it. It is the most amazing gift life gave us. That's why I now have more urges to take care to the environment and preserve what we still have and can be saved. 

After the visit to the falls, we got to see a pretty place called Niagara on the lake. It is like Disney, but people actually live there! There are flowers everywhere, and there is this amazing view on the lake. I saw it and ran directly to the shore to put my feet inside the water. (I almost fall down because I wasn't used to rocky beaches, in Mexico we only have sandy ones, but I really liked that part too, i took some little stones with me. This place was particularly special to me. I mean, it was just so pretty and calmed. There was even a wedding going on when we got there. 

This is a picture of me and my boyfriend! This is Marino, one of the most amazing and gentle souls I have ever met. He is my best friend and my real love. I know we are young, and love is quite complicated. But he makes me so happy, and I hope to make him happy too. If two people are together and they make each other happy, they don't need anything else. I would like to tell you more about him, he is just amazing. Maybe in another post, that is just about us. (We were so lucky to share this trip together, it was beautiful and crazy fun, many friends came along too!)

Then we went to Toronto! It is a really pretty city, we got to wander around and see some beautiful spots. I found an art supplies shop and went crazy (just a bit) There's always something you can't get in Mexico or in other countries. I got some nice brushes and ink! (I am getting started in lettering thanks to that) 

There was this amazing group of duck sculptures in one of the malls, everything was jut so pretty. (on the right corner you can see Marino's best friend, Pascal)

That day we returned to Montreal, we got to stay the whole weekend near the waterfalls. We had three more small trips to other places! But that I will tell you later, since there is so much to show you and so many pictures to share. I missed you guys.

San Angel

Hello there! Well, the day before yesterday my sister, my mother, and I went to a place here in Mexico City that is called San Angel. It is a big market where lots of artisans sell their products. There's a huge variety of things that you can find. From the symbols and figures of Nayarit, to knitted plush. There are also many Mexican food restaurants. This time we decided to eat some quesadillas at a stand that was near the street. (they were delicious) Here are some pictures of the things we saw at the market.                            This man was called Manuel, he made all the figures and also his clothes! He had a great sense of humor, he even laughed with my mom's jokes. This guitar was amazing, the man who made it said it has more than 100 recycled parts.  As I told you, there were also this kind of things around the market, It was a small piece of cuteness between all the mexican clothes and talavera plates. (That tree was just too cute, you can imagine who bought it...)Pure embroidery. We wanted to buy it, but, just try to guess the prize.

Well, there were several things that I loved, my mom was really happy, also my sister. Mom bought a molcajete for the kitchen, it is a kind of plate made of stone in which you can make different sauces. It was really heavy, though. We had to take turns in order to take it to the car. We had a great day, the climate was great, the market was not so full of people, and after some hours we arrived home and played with Remi for a little while. I really hope you liked the pictures, it would be awesome if you could come and visit the market someday!

Oh, I almost forget to tell you, I'm in process of changing some things in my room, I'll post about it later. Also, I found a gorgeous book I would like to share with you, I guess that's it for now, lots of love, Monica.

Walls.

Hi there! Well, between some of the things I did while I was not posting, this mural is an important one. I have always loved to paint over walls, I believe that mostly all of us as children painted something at least on one wall, many parents tell their children not to do that, but, hopefully for me, they say there's no problem with it at all.

I like to write and draw on walls, because, somehow thoughts and ideas that you draw on them, stay there for a long time, and they're always at sight. Many of the drawings are just doodles, but most of them have a meaning, my life is a bit messy, as you can see. (lots of ideas all over the place.)

I haven't finished it jet, I hope to fill the wall on the upcoming vacations! (Of course I'll share with you the pictures once it is finished:)

And what about you? Do you like having or making murals? or do you prefer paintings? I have a kind of mixture between them. I guess balance is always good. I really hope you liked my mural. Have an awesome day, lots of love, Monica.

Sunset.

Well, yesterday I  suddenly looked at the sky, and this amazing colors appeared. I got too excited. And ran like Remi when he listens the word food. Got to the roof, and took a million pictures. I just realized  how much I love nature, and its capacity of being something more than beautiful. I mean, maybe some others don't even realized what a pretty sunset was at the other side of the window. Sometimes all that technologic stuff takes us apart from these. Almost every time I look at the landscape.. I try to imagine how it would look without all the cables, houses, roads, and cars. (I know some of you may have imagined that too:) But well, it is amazing how after all these things we've done to our home. It is still giving us this kind of gifts.

I'm back!

 

Well, Hello!!!! :D we're back from NY! I mean, not until now, but I had exams and all that stuff and I didn't have time to sit down and start posting properly (: but now I want to tell you a bit about the trip! We went there to celebrate my 15th birthday! (here in mexico it is supposed that at that age a great party should be made) but I don't like to make parties, I prefer going to them XD so we decided that a trip was a better option. We got there  and it was cold, really cold! But after some time we got used to it. As you can imagine we went to many shops! Some awesome museums! The Met, the MoMA, and the Natural History Museum, I can't choose a favorite one, everything inside them is more than amazing. Beatles love indeed

Hello there!! Well, I am super excited to share with you this awesome gift my mom and dad gave me as an advanced gift for my 15th birthday. I am a HUGE fan of the Beatles, so I guess this is the dream of every beatlemaniac, the complete collection of vinyls! From the Album Please Please me to the Past Masters! I am still dying of happiness. I can't think of a better birthday gift. THANK YOU mom and dad (: 

 

Photography - Playing with perspective

Hey there!! It's me.. again (: well, I'm sorry for not updating the blog so regularly, I am learning too much new things at school during these days. (thing that I love!) But I will keep posting maybe not so much but with the same love of always (: 

So, my mom, sister, and I went to take some photos last weekend! There was a special exposition of cups, (those little hanging plants) so I wanted to show you the idea I had for the picture, it seemed a bit crazy at the beginning but we loved the result! it all depends on changing the way we see things, and turn them all around (literally!)

This is the first one. At first I had to sort of lye down on the floor and place my legs over de wall of the corridor. It was a bit silly, because everyone was just staring at me.. like "What is she doing?" But I think it definitely worth it. At the end I just had to edit the photo, rotate it and crop the parts of the photo that could ruin the "optic game".

This one is much easier, you just need to lye down and take the picture. The only important thing I would like to say, is that the angle of the wall should be horizontal. Another good idea is to lye down on a place that has no walls, or are very far away. 

Taking pictures is so much fun, playing with the angles, and focus definitely gives great results. I just discovered an awesome photographer in YouTube, you can visit his site here (: he does a lot of great things, and also teaches some basic stuff for new photographers! 

Anyways, I miss you. I really hope to post during this week (I am starting to play guitar, so I guess I'll do a small video) I also want to make the room tour, that some of you have been asking for. A big hug, Monica

About the new design!

So... I gotta say WELCOME! I've been changing the design so that's why I closed the blog for some time! Sorry, I am in exams, so I thought it would be ready before, but I just couldn't finish before (: Anyways I really hope you like it!! Now you can see bigger pictures on the posts! I also added a small kind of "news board" to let you know about the new things and projects just by stopping by (: I first made this design by hand, with some topic markers and transparent paper.. my first idea was to photocopy them, or something like that. But I couldn't get a good quality, so I better made it on Sketchbook. There are lots of new things around here, I just got a record player (thing that makes me too happy!) I am also starting to play guitar! I actually know how to play piano, but I am just starting with guitars, so I think I'll upload some videos later:3 How have you been? I've been missing you, Remi also! I hope to post more during the weekend.

Lately...

Well, I know it has been a while since I dont blog! But I just gotta say.. this Monday I start going to SCHOOL D: nooo! haha, I have to admit I like to learn, but I'm not a huge fan of homework...! I am also going to miss vacations so much. Anyways, I am getting ready with the books, pencils, notebooks, etcetera, etcetera, and it's something I actually enjoy (: There are some new things around here, I just got a pair of pencil shoes from ModCloth, and I have to say I love them! (they actually fit to the conversation theme of above:) I also learned another way of getting remi to look at the camera, I just hold a small piece of cheese and place it above the lens, so he is just thinking of the cheese and I take photos of him!

Oh, I also made myself a Rolling Stones shirt! I sometimes envy my sister because her name is "Angie", if you are a Rolling Stone's fan you will understand (; Well, that's all for today! Have a nice day lovelies! xo.
