Steps 1-2: First take one spoon of milk and one of Unflavored Gelatin (it works with flavored too!). Mix it very well, and then microwave for about 15 seconds. Step 3: Place the mixture over your nose and wait for about 30 minutes, peel it of and you are done!
Hope you have a lovely weekend!
hugs,
Monica. (it's been a while! ;)
This is such a cute tutorial! I've done this before--I love it, because you can put it anywhere on your face! I'm 25 and still get blackheads on my nose and chin, and this is a great way to get rid of them!
ReplyDeleteThat's true!! (:
DeleteThanks so much for the comments! :D
Ohh I so want to try this! I'm 25 like the poster above and always get acne when I am PMSing :(
ReplyDeleteGood luck Crysta!! :D
DeleteBelieve me it really works!
This is so cute! Did you draw these?

Thanks! ^^
DeleteFlavored gelatin works too? I will have to try! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteYes!! The only thing is that it smells a bit weird... Anyway it works great!! (:
DeleteThanks for the comment! ^^
I always heard those pore-strips were bad for your skin. What about these? 'Cause I'd really like to try, but I don't want to do something that could potentially make my acne worse later on...
ReplyDeleteWell, I read that they were a great way to keep your nose clean and soft. (:
DeleteBut I really recommend to do this just once or twice a week for preventing any kind of harm to your skin (;
Good luck!
xoxo
I think it is better to use it on clean from acne skin. I used to have problem with acne when I was younger and you really should not try this thinks without asking your dermatologist. Now I don't have problem and I will give this a try!
DeleteWould a non-dairy milk work, like almond, coconut, hazelnut, etc?
ReplyDeleteI think that yes, the only important think is that you should get a sticky mixture.
DeleteGood luck!
xo
Do you use cloth or paper?
ReplyDeletenope! (:
DeleteREally cute way to express... i like the idea aswell
ReplyDeletethanks! ^^
DeleteI love this idea. Thnks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteWhat are you using for the strips?
Thanks!
DeleteOh, and you just need the mixture and a spoon or something to apply it directly to your skin!
xoxo
I love this idea. Thnks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteWhat are you using for the strips?
So this really works? I always get blackheads on my noess and regular face washes don't seem to help... I wanna give this a try! :)
ReplyDeleteI tried this last night but I could only find gelatin in sheets. I broke off a corner of a sheet and let it sit in the milk for a couple of minutes, then I microwaved it a bit longer (25 sec) and got the right texture. I didn't get quite the "strip" effect and ended up having to rinse it off, but my nose and cheeks still feels great!
ReplyDeleteYou're so talented and creative! I just found your blog and LOOOVVEE it! So- do you put the mixture on a band aid or...?
ReplyDeleteI think this is a great idea! I've been using Rodan + Fields' Unblemish to get rid of my acne. It has worked so well, but I still have a few blackheads on my nose that are hard to get rid of with just face washing. I'm going to try this. For any of the ladies who are having trouble with their acne, I truly recommend what I've been using. www.sabrinaramos.myrandf.com
ReplyDeleteThis didn't work for me. All that happened was I pulled a lot of hairs off my nose. :( There's no hope for my blackheads. Plus I used it a couple of other spots on my face and I had to wash it off because it hurt too bad to pull.
ReplyDeleteAlso, I think "smells a little weird" is an understatement. If you can't stand the smell of a dirty litter box for an extended period of time, I wouldn't recommend this.
I'm glad it works for other people though, and cute illustrations!
You have hair on your nose? ;) just kiddin we all have flaws!
DeleteThis did smell really funky (think farm animal smells)! I think next time I can try adding essential oils like peppermint or tea tree oil. Don't know if the oils will mess up the chemical reaction, but it's worth the shot because i have a couple of boxes of gelatine. I think this could work if I used it several times a week.
ReplyDeleteI tried it once on my brother first and he has bad black heads on his nose. He ripped it right off after I put it on because he said it smelled horrible. So I made another batch with peppermint oil and it smells very good, like I put a piece of gum on my face :)
ReplyDeleteOur home doesn't drink regular milk, so I don't want to buy a box of milk and have it go to waste. Do you think soymilk will work?
ReplyDeleteDo you think it would work with a gelatin alternative? I am a vegetarian so I don't use gelatin.
ReplyDeleteGeletain has something from an animal in it?
DeleteI'm trying this RIGHT NOW.. like seriously, it's on my face right now! Can't wait to see what happens!! :)
ReplyDeleteOkay this totally works!! Man, you should have seen my strips when I took them off.. lol I'll spare you the details! :) LOVE this and will continue doing it! Thanks for the tip!!!
ReplyDeleteWohoo:3 I am really really happy it worked ^_^ and thanks for letting me know Jessica! Hope you have a good night
DeleteSounds great! I'm kind of a little confused about how it becomes a strip? Do you use any other material?
ReplyDeleteSounds great! I'm kind of a little confused about how it becomes a strip? Do you use any other material?
ReplyDeleteSounds great! I'm a little confused about how it becomes a strip, though. Do you use some type of material?
ReplyDeleteNo strip. You have to glop it on your nose! But I would stay away from people because it looks like you sneezed all over yourself >_> It smells a little funky but you get used to it after about 5-8 minutes :3 But its worth it because it totally works!
DeleteWhat do you mean by gelatine? like jello? what exactly is it?? i want to try this!
ReplyDeleteI actually used the flavored because it was all I had. It works great because you can actually see where you put it!
ReplyDeletejust to clarify for those who are asking how it becomes a strip...
ReplyDeletethe mixture becomes more solid as it cools, so there is no need for a paper or fabric backing strip - its just the mixture itself shaped into a rectangle & applied to the nose, then removed once it has bonded to the contents of the pores.
just to clarify for those who aren't quite understanding how this works:
ReplyDeleteThe gelatine & milk mixture becomes more solid as it cools, so there is no need for backing strips.
Just knead it into the rough shape of a strip, apply to the area & wait for it to cool before removing it & any unwanted blackheads.
simple! :)
Great, except-- Gelatin is protein obtained by boiling skin, tendons, ligaments, and/or bones with water. It is usually obtained from cows or pigs. Disgusting!! Is there a vegan alternative? Let's be sensitive to the animals with whom we share this planet!
ReplyDeletesmells like wet dog, so maybe adding an essential oil to your liking might be good idea. but otherwise works quite lovely!
ReplyDeleteThis is so frustrating.. the person who posted the original idea does not need to be bothered with 100 alternatives, this is what she did and how she did it and it worked for her. If there is something you dont like about the post or mixture ie: smell, gelatin b/c its from animals, then move on dont waste anyones time by posting your ridiculous ideals.
ReplyDeleteTried this and it lifted the skin off my nose!!!
ReplyDeleteUrm hi! I have no idea if you'll reply...and maybe you'll find this silly... But can i heat it on a stove?? And for how long? Because we don't have a microwave.
ReplyDeleteYes, you can heat it over a stove. Just ensure that you get a gloopy, grainy texture when the gelatin and milk heat up.
DeleteCan I heat it on stove? And if so, for how long? Don't have a microwave...
ReplyDeleteI'll try it tomorrow!!! so simple!! thank you
ReplyDeletei stayed more than 15 minutes with it and nothing came out :( i don't know what i've been doing wrong..
ReplyDeletehow much time do you leave it on?
